Welcome

You have arrived at Nick Cotton's homepage. We probably don't know one another, but the likelihood is that we have something in common either in interest or background, or else you wouldn't be here, so I hope that something here catches your attention or at the least points you on to somewhere else in your search for knowledge.

If you were looking for a page related to the Nick Cotton character from BBC TV's "Eastenders" then I'm sorry but you're in the wrong place! Try the Walford Gazette or BBC Television.

This site is currently designed to look best when viewed using Internet Explorer. I'm still working on getting it to look as I want it to in Netscape.

What's Here

I have spent quite some time "surfing" the WWWeb searching out information I have needed for my work. On my travels I have stumbled across a number of sites which I have found interesting or useful or both! Accordingly, my bookmark file has grown rather large and I've now decided to turn it into a web page and try my hand at writing in HTML.

Sections so far written include guides to organising folders and menus on your computer to make it neater and tidier, and brief guides to the software you need to get the most out of the web and your PC. Generally it's the sort of guidance I have been asked for by colleagues and friends.

Whilst search engines are an invaluable tool in finding information on the Internet, unless you are searching for something very specific it is easy to be swamped by the number of pages found by your search. If your interests overlap mine in any way then I am pleased to offer you links to sites I have found more useful than most.

Please click on the links on the left to go to the sections you are interested in, or on the flag at the top of the screen to return to this page. I haven't wasted screen space with "back" buttons as I have assumed that you can use the back button of your Browser.

Much of what I have found on the web has been found by following other people's links pages. To those who built the web, created the search engines and directories, indeed all those who have boldly gone before, my thanks.
